Artisan Bread Specialist and Confectioners
About Our Company History
The owners of the business are Miriam, Brian and Nigel Hunter. Originally owned by Miriam and Brian, until 1995 when Nigel (their son) joined the business and then in 2005 became an official partner in the business. Miriam and Brian have worked in the business for the past 45 years, both have a long history of baking. Prior to the creation of Hunters the Bakers and Son, Brian was an apprentice at Chalinor & Park Bakery in Bolton for 5 years before moving to Hampsons Bakery in Bolton for 3 years. This is were he met Miriam who was a cake decorater and after marrying in 1967 they created their own business in 1968.
The Bakery started on 16th December 1968 soon after the birth of Miriam and Brian Hunter's first daughter. The original bakery was at 235 Halliwell Road, Bolton. Whilst owning Halliwell Road Miriam and Brian bought 655 Bury Road, Breightmet. After 3 years Miriam and Brian closed Halliwell Road bakery in order to concentrate on the very busy Bury Road bakery. Eventually they returned to the Halliwell district and bought 23/25 Church Road which became an even busier bakery than the Bury Road bakery. They ran both shops for sometime before closing the Bury Road bakery in order to concentrate on the Church Road bakery. The current bakery is still at 23/25 Church Road where we have been working exeptional hard for 18 years.
